Culture is Connection
History, Science, Art, and the Human Story.
In a city of specialists, we strive to be generalists. At New Acropolis, we believe culture isn't something you just watch, it’s something you do. It is the bridge that connects us to each other and to the generations that came before us.
The Renaissance Spirit in Ravenswood
We live in a world that tells us to stay in our lane. If you are an accountant, you do numbers. If you are an engineer, you do blueprints.
But the human being is curious about everything.
Our cultural program is based on the Renaissance ideal: the well-rounded human being.
We explore:
-
History: Not just names and dates, but the lessons of the past.
-
Art: Understanding beauty and creativity across civilizations.
-
Science: Exploring the mysteries of the universe and nature.
We don't do this to be "intellectuals." We do it to understand the world we live in.
Culture in Action
We bring ideas down from the clouds and into the community.
-
Dialogue & Debate: We host movie nights, book clubs, and Socratic dialogues where your opinion matters.
-
The Arts: From poetry readings to workshops on classical music, we explore how art expresses the best of humanity.
-
Global Heritage: We are an international school. We study the wisdom of the Mayans, the Egyptians, the Stoics, and the Celts with equal respect.

Expanding Our Horizons
Chicago is a city of neighborhoods. It’s easy to get stuck in our own little bubble.
Culture is the tool we use to pop that bubble. By learning about how other people lived, thought, and created, we become more empathetic and open-minded neighbors. Whether it's discussing a film or studying ancient architecture, every event is an opportunity to meet someone new and learn something unexpected.
